Hyde Park is a historic part of Montrose, a neighborhood in Houston, Texas. It was established in the late 1800s by the second President of the Republic of Texas, Mirabeau Lamar. In the 1970s, Hyde Park was a central part of the Gay Rights Movement in Houston. Today, Hyde Park is home to a wide variety of ethnic restaurants.

Hyde Park Civic Association – The Hyde Park Civic Association was one of the first of its kind in Houston. The association puts out a monthly newsletter that advertises local businesses and informs Hyde Park residents of local affairs. They also take care of the historic Lamar Park.

Lamar Park – Lamar Park is a small, historic park located within the Hyde Park area of Houston. The park is most famous for its “dolphin fountain,” which was built in 1946. This makes the dolphin fountain one of the oldest fountains in all of Houston.

Houston SPCA – The Houston SPCA is dedicated to promoting a commitment to and respect for animals. Through education and community outreach, the animal shelter hopes to free all companion animals from suffering and abuse within Hyde Park and the rest of Houston.
