River Oaks is an upscale community in Houston, Texas that is known for luxurious homes, high-end designer stores, and diverse selection of restaurants. The area was first developed by former governor Jim Hogg’s children in the 1920s to accompany the River Oaks Country Club.

River Oaks Resources:

River Oaks Park – Also known as “Pumpkin Park,” River Oaks Park was created in 1938 on 5 acres set aside during the development of River Oaks’ subdivision. At the time of its creation, a community center was built, which still stands in the park to this day.

River Oaks Chamber Orchestra – The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra is a Grammy-winning musical organization that pulls conductors and musicians from all across the US and even around the world. The orchestra strives to provide unique musical experiences in hopes of stirring a love of the arts in their audiences.

River Oaks Country Club – River Oaks Country Club was founded in 1923. The club has hosted a variety of big tournaments, including various stops on the PGA tour. It has also hosted the River Oaks International Tennis Tournament since 1931, which makes it the oldest run tennis tournament to still be held at its original site.
